Set in Dehradun, Shardul Thakur, a gay cop and Suman Singh, a lesbian physical education teacher agree to a lavender marriage only to put their respective families off their backs. This genius idea of marriage of convenience works like a charm, until things get complicated, and to hide one lie, they get embroiled into a hilarious web of lies.

Featuring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles, the film has an impressive supporting cast –  Seema Pahwa, Sheeba Chadha, Chum Darang, Gulshan Devaiah, Nitesh Pandey, and Apeksha Porwal.

Badhaai Do has been regarded as the first Indian film based on marriage of same sex relationships.
