Riyad Wadia Award for Best Emerging Indian Filmmaker

Narrative short films by an Indian filmmaker, residing in India, whose first or second short film, that are completed after January 1, 2020, playing at KASHISH 2021 are eligible for nomination to this award category.

The award carries a certificate, an award trophy and a cash prize of Rs.25,000 supported by Wadia Movietone – one of the pioneering Indian production companies established in 1933.   


JINESH VS
Director, Akam (Inside)

Jinesh VS is a Kerala-born writer, journalist, and filmmaker. He worked as an assistant director with ‘Celebrations Theatre’, a reputed theatre group from Kerala.

Jinesh made his directorial debut in 2019 with the Malayalam short movie Aviramam (It Goes On).

He won the screenplay writing competition conducted by Kerala State Chalachitra Academy for the screenplay of his second short film Akam (Inside) in 2020.


KASHYAP SWAROOP
Co – Director, Are We There Yet?

Kashyap Swaroop is an award-winning advertising creative, filmmaker and standup comic based out of Mumbai. He hails from a film family with both his parents being respected and decorated filmmakers. He is the CEO and Co-Founder of Lowfundwala Communications – a digital media startup that exclusively created introductory videos for startups.

After honing his filmmaking skills through few micro-short films Are We There Yet? is his longest narrative short film that he has co-directed with Bhanu Babbal.  


RADHIKA PRASIDHHA
Director, Begum Parvathi

Radhika Prasidhha is a theatre actor by training and a practicing psychotherapist by education. She started out her journey in films as an actor. She began working on student short films in 2010 that eventually led to her playing the lead in the Tamil film Kuttram Kadithal that won the National Award in 2015. It was followed by her second feature as a lead in Kadugu (2017).  She also co directed and wrote the short film I Exist (2015) which won the Best short at All Lights India International Film Festival and Best film (Gender) at Woodpecker International Film Festival, Delhi.

Appa’s Seasons (2020) is her debut independent directorial short film. Begum Parvathi is her second directorial.


RAMAKAUSHALYAN RAMAKRISHNAN
Director, Shivanum Mohiniyum  

Ramakaushalyan is a director, writer, cinematographer from Chennai, India currently based in UK. He is graduated from high school during the year 2020 from Maharishi Vidya Mandir Chennai. After producing work as a portraits and documentary photographer for 4 years and winning several international awards Ram has found his passion in cinema and made his first short film Shivanum Mohiniyum. His main goal is to make a feature film representing the culture toxicity in his country.


SUNIL REVANKAR
Director, Paul 10

Sunil Revankar is an Indian born, Goa based film director. After graduating from engineering in computer science he joined Hindi TV & Film industry and worked on many projects as assistant director.

Paul 10 is his directorial debut short film that is produced under his own production company Dancing Crab Entertainment.
