KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival (India) invites graphic designers across the world to participate in the KASHISH 2021 Wendell Rodricks Poster Design Contest to design the official festival poster and overall look for the festival’s upcoming 12th edition in May 2021 with the theme ‘Unlock With Pride’

Started by the late couture designer Wendell Rodricks in 2012, and continued in his memory by his partner Jerome Marrell, the poster design contest offers a cash award of Rs.25,000 (approx. US$340) and a KASHISH Butterfly trophy.

POSTER DESIGN CONTEST RULES

WHAT TO SUBMIT:
A graphically designed poster is easily re-producable across design platforms and branding elements. No photographs or hand painted or any other form of artwork will be considered.

The submitted poster design must encompass the KASHISH 2021 theme ‘Unlock With Pride’ (for description of the theme read below).
THEME:  ‘Unlock With Pride’
The theme of KASHISH 2021 is #UnlockWithPride, representing the festival’s mission to unlock geographical & racial barriers, and encourage love & acceptance of #LGBTQIA+ individuals, and thereby unlock a new normal of hope for everyone.

It should be an original artwork and all the rights to the submitted poster must be held by the participant.

HOW TO SUBMIT:
1. Poster Design MUST include the following:
(i) Festival’s Edition & Name: 12th KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival
(ii) Tagline: South Asia’s Biggest Queer Film Festival
(iii) KASHISH logo available at: https://tinyurl.com/KASHISHMIQFFLogos
(iv) Theme Line: ‘Unlock With Pride’
(v) Date: May 20-30, 2021
(vi) Space for logos of organizers & partners at the bottom of the poster (to be inserted later)

2. Image Orientation: Portrait. The design should be a VERTICAL (PORTRAIT) image.
3. Submission Size – A2 Portrait 300 DPI (4961 pixels width x 7016 pixels height). 
4. Submission Format – PNG or JPEG. Maximum file size – 10 MB.
5. Upon selection it should be available as an Adobe Illustrator / Corel Draw file.
6. All images used in the poster MUST be free of all copyright.

DISCLAIMER:
1. KASHISH MIQFF has zero discrimination policy. Everyone is welcome to submit their designs. Every design will be judged purely on its merit and its co-relation to the festival theme.

2. The contest receives hundreds of entries from all over the world. Many a times several submissions display similarity. Hence KASHISH is not responsible for receiving designs which maybe similar to yours. The selection team judges each design in its entirety and only on its merit and relevance to theme. Decision of the judge is final and indisputable.

Poster Design Contest FAQs

1. When is the deadline?

Entries should reach us by or before SUNDAY FEBRUARY 14, 2021 at 11:59pm (IST)

2. Who can submit and how many entries can one submit?
This is an International Competition. Anyone, anywhere in the world can participate. Each participant is allowed to submit a maximum of TWO entries with COMPLETELY DIFFERENT Designs.

3. What about images to be used?
It has to be a graphic design that is easily re-producable across design platforms and branding elements. The participant should hold full responsibility of owning the copyright to the images and designs submitted to the contest. The entry will be disqualified if it has any copyrighted image or element.

4. Where do I submit or send my design?
By filling out form https://tinyurl.com/K21PosterContest1 with all details. Upload the designs in the form itself.

5. How does the judging take place?
The entries will be shortlisted by the KASHISH core team and the winner will be picked by Jerome Marell, partner of late Wendell Roidricks. The decision of poster selection will be based on relevance, authenticity and innovation.

6. Can I submit a design which is done by me and my friend together?
Yes, you may. If your design gets selected as a winner the festival will award only one trophy and also the cash award will be transferred only to you. However you and your co-designer/s will be credited in the festival’s press releases and promotions.

7. Can I re-use my poster design from this contest for other projects?
No. The submissions cannot be used fully or partially elsewhere till the results are announced. The winning design becomes the property of KASHISH and cannot be reused anywhere in full or in parts.

8. If the submitted poster does not get selected as the winning poster, can I use it elsewhere?
If a submitted poster does not get selected the participant is free to use it anywhere else.

9. When will I be informed if my design gets selected?
An official email will be sent to you during the last week of February 2021. Please make sure to share your valid email id with us.

10. Will I also get an email feedback if my design doesn’t get selected?
Sorry. We only email a notification about the winner. Each year the festival receives a sizeable amount of entries across the world. It won’t be possible for us to send feedback to each participant.  

11. Will I get any credit if my design is selected?
The winner(s) of the contest will be credited in the press, festival website and catalog.

12. What are the rewards if my design is selected?
The reward includes a cash prize of Rs.25,000, a KASHISH Butterfly trophy, a Festival Guest Pass that allows entry to all festival events during KASHISH 2021.

13. When and where will the winner be awarded?

The winner will be awarded at the Awards & Closing Ceremony on Sunday, May 30, 2021.

Whether the ceremony will be held online or on-ground the winner will be intimated beforehand.

In case of an on-ground Award Ceremony, the travel & accommodation to the festival in Mumbai has to be borne by the winner. 

14. If unable to attend in person, how the winner will receive the rewards?

The cash prize anyway will be transferred within two weeks after the festival’s closing ceremony. Bank transfer charges will be deducted where applicable.

In case of an online festival, the trophy will be couriered to the winner within a month post the festival depending on the current situation.
