BEST OF KASHISH @ PRITHVI

The 7th edition of KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival collaborated with Rage Theater’s Writer’s Bloc festival to present a day dedicated to LGBTQ cultural events on April 7, 2016, at Prithvi Theatre, Juhu. The day long cultural experiences included film screening, theatre performance and discussion.

“KASHISH and Writer’s Bloc share a common goal of introducing new stories to audiences and we are very happy to include the ‘Best of KASHISH’ in our festival line up. The fact that the film screenings are scheduled alongside Tutak, a similarly themed Marathi play, is icing on the cake”, said Rajit Kapur, renowned actor-director and founder of Writer’s Bloc.

“KASHISH is delighted to collaborate with Writer’s Bloc to cross-pollinate and synergize theater and films, to shine a light on the much misunderstood and often marginalized LGBTQ lives. The event offered an amazing platform to create greater awareness, and sensitize a larger audience about everyone’s equal right to love, and live with dignity”, said Sridhar Rangayan, festival director of KASHISH.

The Best of KASHISH film screening started off with a 4 hour screening program starting from 2pm to 6pm. With a curated program of 14 LGBTQ films from across the globe, the films showcased included award winners or audience favourites from Kashish 2015. This was followed by a Marathi play TUTAK (Fragmented) written by Saggherr Loadhii and directed by Zameer Kamble.
