The 4th edition of KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival that is being held May 22-26, 2013 is being organized by Solaris Pictures.

The process of forming a not-for-profit KASHISH Foundation is in progress and should be ready by the festival’s next edition in 2014.

Solaris Pictures has been one of the main organizers of the landmark KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival, which was founded in 2010 and has been held in 2011 and 2012.

Solaris Pictures, established in 2001, has established itself as one of the leading film production companies in India that has consistently been making films on social issues - gay rights, HIV/AIDS - films that engage and entertain audiences. With short films, documentaries and feature length films produced or co-produced with other organizations, these films have pushed boundaries and challenged stereotypes. They have played at more than 150 film festivals and grass roots level screenings across the world and won several awards.

Solaris Pictures has positioned Indian queer films on the global map through international distribution of over 30 films that are available on DVD and VOD across several platforms.

Solaris Pictures organized two editions of FLASHPOINT Human Rights Film Festival in 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 in Mumbai and New Delhi; with support from Movies That Matter (an arm of Amnesty International). This highly though-provoking film festival raised many pertinent human rights issues through film screenings, panel discussions and open mic.
